{"id":1075,"date":"2022-10-16T06:40:14","date_gmt":"2022-10-16T04:40:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/habeljadera.keuskupanbogor.org\/?p=1075"},"modified":"2022-10-16T06:40:18","modified_gmt":"2022-10-16T04:40:18","slug":"perseverance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/habeljadera.keuskupanbogor.org\/id\/2022\/10\/16\/perseverance\/","title":{"rendered":"Perseverance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>XXIX Sunday of Ordinary Time<\/li><li>Luk 18:1-8<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Dear Brothers and Sisters,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">Today&#8217;s Gospel of Luke encourages us to answer some essential questions in our missionary-life purposes. The first question is, &#8220;why should we pray?&#8221; It has the same aspect as the question, &#8220;what makes you pray?&#8221; Are there some motives behind our prayer? These fundamental questions lead us to another question, &#8220;why should we pray continuously? Why should we be persistent in prayer?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus describes this situation in two different figures in the parable of the unjust judge and the weak widow, which we have just listened to in this eucharist. Jesus describes the first figure: &#8220;There was a certain judge in a certain town who did not fear God and did not respect people&#8221; [Lk 18:2]. So, likewise, the unjust judge&nbsp;<strong><em>did not fear God&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong><em>had no respect<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;for his neighbor. In other words, he is autonomous and arrogant; he identifies himself as &#8220;someone&#8221; that people should respect. Jesus marks the opposite characteristic of being a missionary disciple, who has to be afraid only of God and love the neighbor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, Jesus introduces the opposite figure, a weak widow who &#8220;<em>kept coming to him, saying, &#8216;Grant me justice against my adversary!<\/em>&#8221; [Lk 18:3]. Unlike the unjust judge, a widow is characterized as weak, oppressed, being mistreated, the &#8220;unknown,&#8221; nobody. But at the same time, that widow&#8217;s attitude expressed Jesus&#8217; purpose in this parable: &#8220;<em>to show that they must always pray and not be discouraged<\/em>&#8221; [Lk 18:1]. She is constant in prayer and persevering in looking for justice bear fruit. She realizes that an answer to a prayer may not come immediately. The prayer becomes our petition that should be repeated without distraction, discouraged from giving up on what we are asking.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By asking His disciples to persist in praying, Jesus [once again] encourages us to ask&nbsp;constantly, seek and knock to chase our needs. He guarantees his words by saying,&nbsp;<em>&#8220;And I tell you, ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened for you.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/em>[Lk 11:9].&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the figure of the weak widow, Jesus asks us to have an attitude of prayerfulness and perseverance that needs to be maintained, specifically under challenging&nbsp;circumstances. Why? Because those attitudes initially arise from the desire to always be with God, and it also demonstrates the continuing trust in God. It bears fruitful faith in God. In faith, we pray not to enrich ourselves or be proud. Prayerfulness does not mean to fulfill our selfishness but to open our hearts to God&#8217;s will. Therefore, as priests and missionary disciples, the prayerfulness shown by the weak widow should be our lifestyle.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brothers and sisters, let us put ourselves before God as this figure of the weak widow, as sinners, and as those in need, as those who depend on\u00a0<em>Providentiae Dei<\/em>. Because &#8220;asking&#8221; means requesting other things, it is an expression of dependence, like a child who always depends on their parents: like the widow that looks for justice constantly, brave enough to come often [and maybe disturbing] to the judge. And if someone never asks, they are independent, at a distance, far from God&#8217;s grace, and of course, they are indifferent. Pope Francis encourages us not to be ashamed to ask something to God, our Father. As he says: &#8220;Therefore, we should not be shocked if we feel the need to pray, we should not be ashamed. And, especially when we are in need, to ask.&#8221; [Francis,\u00a0<strong>Catechesis on prayer \u2013 18.\u00a0<em>The prayer of petition,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>December 9, 2020]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>La perseveranza <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>XXIX Sunday of Ordinary Time<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luk 18:1-8<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cari fratelli e sorelle,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oggi, il Vangelo di Luca, ci incoraggia a rispondere ad alcune domande essenziali per i nostri obiettivi di vita missionaria. La prima domanda \u00e8: &#8220;Perch\u00e9 dobbiamo pregare?&#8221;. Essa ha lo stesso aspetto della domanda: &#8220;Cosa ci stimola a pregare? Quali sono i motivi della nostra preghiera?&#8221;.&nbsp;&nbsp;Queste domande fondamentali ci portano a un&#8217;altra domanda: &#8220;Perch\u00e9 dovremmo pregare continuamente? Perch\u00e9 dovremmo essere perseveranti nella preghiera?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ges\u00f9 descrive questa situazione in due figure diverse nella parabola del giudice disonesto e della vedova debole, che abbiamo appena ascoltato in questa eucaristia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Da un latto, Ges\u00f9 descrive la prima figura:&nbsp;<em>&#8220;In una citt\u00e0 viveva un giudice, che non temeva Dio n\u00e9 aveva riguardo per alcuno&#8221;<\/em>&nbsp;[Lc 18:2].&nbsp;Allo stesso modo, il giudice ingiusto non temeva Dio e non aveva rispetto per il prossimo. Insomma, \u00e8 autonomo e arrogante; si identifica se stesso in quanto &#8220;qualcuno&#8221; che la gente dovrebbe rispettare. Ges\u00f9 sottolinea la caratteristica contraria dell&#8217;essere un discepolo missionario, che deve avere paura solo di Dio ed anche amare il prossimo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>D&#8217;altra parte, Ges\u00f9 presenta la figura opposta, una vedova debole che &#8221; c&#8217;era anche una vedova, che andava da lui e gli diceva: &#8220;Fammi giustizia contro il mio avversario&#8221;. [Lc 18,3]. Al contrario di questo giudice ingiusto, la vedova \u00e8 caratterizzata come debole, oppressa, maltrattata, &#8220;sconosciuta&#8221;, nessuna. Per\u00f2, allo stesso tempo, l&#8217;atteggiamento di quella vedova esprimeva lo scopo di Ges\u00f9 in questa parabola che si proponeva &#8220;la necessit\u00e0 di pregare sempre, senza stancarsi mai&#8221; [Lc 18,1]. \u00c8 costante nella preghiera e perseverante nel cercare che la giustizia porti frutto. Si rende conto che la risposta a una preghiera pu\u00f2 non arrivare immediatamente. Ma la preghiera diventa la nostra supplica che va ripetutamente senza distrarsi, scoraggiandosi di rinunciare a ci\u00f2 che chiediamo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chiedendo ai suoi discepoli di perseverare nella preghiera, Ges\u00f9 ci incoraggia [ancora una volta] a domandare costantemente, a cercare e a bussare per soddisfare le nostre necessit\u00e0. Egli garantisce le sue parole dicendo: &#8220;Ebbene, io vi dico: chiedete e vi sar\u00e0 dato, cercate e troverete, bussate e vi sar\u00e0 aperto&#8221; [Lc 11,9].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attraverso la figura della vedova debole, Ges\u00f9 ci chiede di avere un atteggiamento di preghiera e di perseveranza che deve essere mantenuto, soprattutto in circostanze di difficolt\u00e0. Perch\u00e9? Perch\u00e9 questi atteggiamenti nascono inizialmente dal desiderio di essere sempre con Dio e dimostrano anche la continua fiducia in Dio che porta una fede fruttuosa in Dio. In fede, non preghiamo per arricchirci o per essere orgogliosi. Pregare non significa soddisfare il nostro egoismo, ma aprire il nostro cuore alla volont\u00e0 di Dio. Pertanto, come sacerdoti e discepoli missionari, la preghiera dimostrata dalla vedova debole dovrebbe essere il nostro stile di vita.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fratelli e sorelle, mettiamoci davanti a Dio come questa figura della vedova debole, come peccatori e come bisognosi, come coloro che dipendono dalla\u00a0<em>Providentiae Dei<\/em>. Perch\u00e9 &#8220;chiedere&#8221; significa domandare altre cose, \u00e8 un&#8217;espressione di dipendenza, come un bambino che dipende sempre dai genitori: come la vedova che cerca costantemente la giustizia, coraggiosa al punto da venire spesso [e magari disturbare] dal giudice. E se una persona non chiede mai, si trova ad essere indipendente, a una certa distanza, lontana dalla grazia di Dio e, naturalmente, \u00e8 l&#8217;indifferente. Papa Francesco ci incoraggia a non vergognarci di chiedere qualcosa a Dio, nostro Padre. Come insegna lui stesso:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> \u201c<em>Dunque, non dobbiamo scandalizzarci se sentiamo il bisogno di pregare, non avere vergogna.
