First Advent Sunday

Dear friends, today we celebrate The First Advent Sunday, marking the Church’s entry into a new Liturgical Year. The fundamental question: ‘What is Advent for you?’, “How important is Advent for the development of our faith?”, ’What should we do?’

Saint Cyril of Jerusalem remarked about Advent: “We proclaim not only one coming but also the second. The first coming is characterized by patience, while the second will bring the crown of the divine kingdom.” Advent signifies the waiting for the complete arrival of Christ, encompassing both the first and the second comings.

The liturgical year we celebrate begins with the revelation and birth of Christ, continues with His ascension and the Pentacost, and culminates in our anticipation of the joyful and hopeful coming of the Lord [cf. SC 102].

I feel called to bring this spirit back as I look to the future. To build communities rooted in compassion, unity, and faith; to serve with humility and understanding; and to be a witness to the beauty and strength of the missionaries that are “walking together”.

I invite you to join me in this mission, knowing that the lessons Rome has taught me will guide us as we support others, walk with them in their struggles, and celebrate their joys.

Thank you, Rome, and thank you to everyone who contributed to this profound experience. May we take what we have gained here and allow it to grow, shaping our ministries and lives for many years to come.

As Jesus commanded, “Go and make disciples,” we are encouraged to bear fruit in evangelization, even to the ends of the earth and certainly to the digital continent.

Moderasi berasal dari kata moderatus [Latin: tidak lebih dan tidak kurang]. Dalam konteks beragama, maka, moderasi dapat diartikan sebagai suatu keadaan hidup bermasyarakat yang tidak cenderung ekstrem [meyakini bahwa hanya agama tertentu yang paling unggul dan merendahkan agama yang lain] tetapi juga tidak bersikap skeptis atau acuh tak acuh [tidak mementingkan peran agama dalam hidup bermasyakarat].

Kementrian Agama Republik Indonesia mendefiniskan moderasi beragama sebagai “cara pandang, sikap, dan praktik beragama dalam kehidupan bersama dengan cara mengimplementasikan esensi ajaran agama yang melindungi martabat kemanusiaan dan membangun kemaslahatan berlandaskan prinsip adil, berimbang dan menaati konstitusi sebagai kesepakatan berbangsa”

Let us Pray the Holy Rosary in dedication to the Mission of the Church.

The Catholic Church dedicates October to prayer for the mission work of the Universal Church. We start it by celebrating the memory of Santa Teresia, Lisieux, Saint Patron of the Mission.

In addition, the month of October is also known as Rosary Month, the Church devotes to the work of salvation through contemplation of the events of God’s salvation with the Series of Our Father prayers, Hail Mary and Glory.

Let's take this special time to pray for the missionaries - all those who work to spread the Gospel of Jesus in the world, in their own unique ways, within families and communities, both in the real world and in the digital world.

May the tireless efforts to spread the Gospel always thrive and bring forth plentiful harvests.
